Authentic Ukrainian Craftsmanship

Every chisel is a piece of art, crafted by skilled masters in Stryi, Ukraine, following generations of woodworking traditions.

Master-Grade Edge (60-62 HRC)

Hand-forged from W1-7 high-carbon steel. Each tool arrives razor-sharp and ready for professional use.

Level Up Skills

Whether you are introducing a child to their first creative hobby or you are a seasoned professional carving a masterpiece, STRYI tools provide the perfect balance of safety and precision.

Standard chisels often fail when they hit the "rim limit"—the point where a straight handle prevents the cutting edge from reaching the floor of a deep vessel. This 3rd-generation Deep Hollow Carving SET is engineered to eliminate that mechanical bottleneck. Curated specifically for bowls, kuksas, and high-relief sculpture, these tools provide the necessary clearance and geometry to navigate steep internal walls and deep concave surfaces where standard tools would bruise the wood or lose leverage.

Workshop Logic

The curation logic of this set centers on the "Deep-Vessel Workflow." To hollow a kuksa or a bowl efficiently, you need a specific sequence of tools. The Short Bent Gouge acts as the primary excavation engine, providing the handle clearance needed to "dive" into the center of the blank. The #8 Sweep Gouge then manages the transitions, leveling the ridges left by the roughing phase to create a smooth, slope-consistent interior. Finally, the V-parting tool serves as the cleanup specialist, allowing you to define the sharp junction between the floor and the internal walls—an area often left unfinished by rounded tools. This trio forms a complete system for achieving a tool-finished surface inside complex hollow forms.

The “Pro-Steel” Advantage

  • Hand-Forged W1-7 High-Carbon Steel: Every blade is forged by hand and subjected to our signature 11-stage tempering process for a refined molecular structure and elite performance.

  • 60–62 HRC Hardness: Hardened to the professional limit, these tools hold a razor edge through the densest hardwoods like oak, cherry, and maple.

  • 3mm Steel Thickness: This professional grade is critical for deep hollowing. The 3mm thickness provides the rigidity required to dampen vibration and maintain stable edge geometry when applying high pressure in deep recesses.

  • European Oak Handles: Finished with natural linseed oil, these ergonomic handles offer maximum leverage and the tactile feedback necessary for precision finishing passes.

  • Manufacturer-Direct Quality: Produced in our Ukrainian forge to ensure professional workshop standards and direct accountability for every edge.

What’s in the Kit

  • Short Bent Gouge: The workhorse for aggressive material removal. The specialized bent shank provides the mechanical clearance to reach the bottom of kuksas and deep bowls without the handle hitting the edge of the workpiece.

  • V-parting Tool: Engineered for reaching tight internal corners and cleaning up the transition areas where the vessel's wall meets the floor. Essential for adding crisp detail to the bottom of hollow forms.

  • Gouge Sweep #8 (20mm): A medium-deep sweep designed for smoothing the primary hollow and managing transitions. Its geometry is optimized to leave a burnished finish that significantly reduces the need for internal sanding.

Complete Your Workshop

  • STRYI Profiled Leather Strop : The most efficient way to maintain the specialized internal radii of the bent gouge and V-tool in this set. Contoured grooves ensure a mirror-polished edge for fiber-free hollowing.

  • STRYI Basswood Kuksa / Bowl Blank: Skip the heavy roughing and move directly to mastering deep vessel techniques. Hand-selected, knot-free lime wood that offers the ideal density for learning tool control.

  • STRYI Professional Pointed Hook Knife (25mm): The perfect companion to this set. Use the chisels for deep excavation and the hook knife for the final, refined burnishing of the internal curves.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are STRYI tools ready to use out of the box?

Yes, absolutely. Every STRYI tool is professionally hand-sharpened and honed on a leather wheel before shipping. You can start carving the moment you receive your package.

What kind of steel are the tools made of?

We use high-quality high-carbon steel (W1-7), which is specifically chosen for its ability to hold a razor-sharp edge. The steel is heat-treated to a hardness of 60-62 HRC.

Can I use these tools for hardwoods like Oak or Walnut?

Yes. STRYI tools are designed to work effectively on both softwoods (like Basswood or Linden) and hardwoods (like Oak, Walnut, or Cherry)

How long does shipping take to the United States?

We ship directly from our workshop in Ukraine. Standard international shipping typically takes 10-14 business days. You will receive a tracking number as soon as your order is dispatched.

Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes for orders to the USA?

No, you don’t need to worry about any extra costs. Our company covers all customs duties and import taxes for orders shipped to the United States. The price you see at checkout is the final price you pay—no hidden fees or surprise charges upon delivery.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, we ship to most countries globally. Shipping costs and delivery times will be calculated at checkout based on your location.

How often do I need to re-sharpen the tools?

With regular stropping on a leather block with polishing paste, you won't need to re-sharpen for a long time. Only use sharpening stones if the edge becomes chipped or significantly dull.

Do you offer tools for children?

We have specialized sets for young carvers (ages 8+ recommended) that are used in carving schools. However, we always recommend adult supervision.
